Big File Transfer: USU webpage used to distribute large files (1GB max) via email or link to designated recipients.

LucidChart: a web-based diagramming program similar to Microsoft Visio that makes it easy to create flowcharts, mockups, wireframes, and many other diagram types.

Adobe Connect: a web conferencing platform for web meetings, eLearning, and webinars. It provides web conferencing solutions for virtually any device and enables USU to improve productivity. Click here to request an Adobe Connect meeting room outside of Canvas.

Teaching Resources

Core Competencies: a checklist of core competencies essential to teaching online including technical skills and pedagogical best practices.

Using Media in Teaching: options for using digital and streaming video in your courses.

Rubrics for Teachers: a collection of rubrics used for assessing individual and group work. Of particular value to Canvas users is the Online Discussion Rubric which may be used for self-assessment and peer feedback.

Turnitin: an originality checking, online grading, and peer review service used to prevent plagiarism and encourage students to use best practices in using and citing other people's written material. USU Eastern has a campus-wide license that allows instructors to use Turnitin integrated inside their Canvas course or stand-alone on the Turnitin website.

Course Delivery Tools

Panapto: a lecture capture software currently under implementation at USU Eastern; used to capture your lecture in the classroom and upload it to Canvas.

i>clicker: a student response system that allows faculty to run live polls in their face-to-face and broadcast courses. If you need assistance with i>clicker, please see the i>clicker support portal to get started.

i>clicker GO: a virtual remote that allows students to answer i>clicker questions using their laptop or mobile devices.


Handbrake: convert video from nearly any format to a selection of modern, widely supported codecs.

PDF to Word Converter: create PDFs, and convert  your PDFs to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint using this site.

DownloadHelper: download and convert Web videos from hundreds of YouTube-like sites. This works also for audio and picture galleries.

ListenToYouTube: online application for converting YouTube flash video to MP3 audio.
