Richard Walton is a native of rural California and spent time growing up in the Kanab and Panguitch area of Utah. He has more than 30 years experience in California law enforcement with specialized training and expertise in criminal investigation and forensics. He received his bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Conservation from Humboldt State College in Arcata, California, and his Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of San Francisco (USF) in 1978. He retired in 2002 and received his Doctor of Education degree from USF in 2005, joining the faculty of CEU in 2007. He is the author of the new textbook, Cold Case Homicides: Practical Investigative Techniques (CRC Press, 2006).
