At some point in your USU Eastern career, you may need to take some time away from your studies; you may need to take a leave of absence from school. Common reasons students take leaves include: serving a humanitarian or religious mission, medical problems, financial and employment related issues, military service, or family responsibilities.
The standard leave period is one year. However, allowances will be made for military activation, church or humanitarian service, and those with extenuating circumstances.
Upon your return to USU, you will not be required to apply for readmission. Instead, the Registrar's Office will remind you of your scheduled return date, and you simply need to verify that you are returning - it's that easy! Additionally, students who file for a leave of absence will have their scholarships placed on hold, and will continue to have their USU Eastern Eaglemail email accounts.
If you find that you need to take a leave of absence for one or more semesters (other than a summer term), you must file a Leave of Absence. Filing is easy! Go to www.usu.edu/loa to complete the Leave of Absence & Deferment information.
