GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally funded grant program whose goal is to increase college awareness for low-income students and their families and to help students develop the skills and preparation necessary to pursue education after high school. GEAR UP works collaboratively with schools, parents and community organizations to help students build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to prepare for college. GEAR UP provides staff and funding resources in a comprehensive program that:
- Helps students with academic, social and life skills
- Reaches out to parents with college knowledge and awareness information
- Builds community partnerships
