Rocky Mountain Power Plugs In to USU Eastern Building Vitality Campaign

A recent check of $5,000 from Rocky Mountain Power Foundation for Utah State University Eastern’s Building Vitality Campaign is a great example of businesses partnering with the college for the greater good of the community.

“Rocky Mountain Power has played an essential role in community infrastructures for more than a century, dating back to 1881 when Salt Lake City became the fifth city in the world to have central station electricity,” said USU Eastern Chancellor Joe Peterson. “We appreciate Rocky Mountain Power’s partnership in attracting students, enhancing economic vitality and creating high paying jobs.”

The USU Eastern Building Vitality Campaign kicked off in 2013. During this time, USU Eastern has raised more than a million dollars in funding for construction of a Central Instructional Building, a 54,000 square-foot facility to house the college’s programs in criminal justice, communication, art, music, theater and general education.

When the state legislature awarded a half million dollars of seed money for the project in 2013, two other college partners, Marc Bingham and Tony Basso, matched that amount. Since then, numerous private individuals and companies have made additional gifts to bring the current total to around $1.2 million.
