"Ascent Totem" by James Young

James Young received an Associate Degree from the College of Eastern Utah, a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master’s Degree from Brigham Young University, and a Master's of Fine Arts from Utah State University. He began his teaching career in Covallis, Oregon, and then moved to Price, where he taught at the College of Eastern Utah for 39 years.

James Young has created several sculptures for the USU Eastern campus including the “CEU Golden Eagle” outside the Reeves Building. 

Young created “Ascent Totem” of two vertical plinths with curvilinear shaped bases. The work is painted in a bold ox blood-red and found outside the USU Eastern Western Instructional Building.
