Price, Utah - An exhibit of photographs, Prize Photography from the 2024 Utah State Fair, from the Utah Arts & Museums Traveling Exhibition Program, is now on view at Utah State University Eastern’s Gallery East in the Central Instruction Building (CIB). The exhibition features prize winners from the Utah State Fair’s annual photography competition.
Over five billion photographs are captured daily. On average, an American takes 20 photos per day. The Utah State Fair Photography Competition attracts hundreds of entries annually in numerous categories. These photographs, whether taken on film, slides, digital cameras, or smartphones, span an array of interests.
Curtis Parker, the Photography Division Supervisor at the Utah State Fair, shares, “The photographs submitted to the fair serve as a source of inspiration and motivation for others to embrace photography as a hobby. Even for those who don’t partake in photography, simply enjoying the visuals is a delightful experience.”
With the rising popularity of photography, Parker challenges both new and returning photographers to “think and shoot out of the lens!” Regardless of winning a ribbon, the most common sentiment he encounters from previous participants is an enthusiastic declaration of return: “I’ll be back next year.”
