The SUN Involvement Center is the Utah State University Eastern’s volunteer office for students, faculty and staff. The SUN Center was established in 1993 and has been a force for positive public relations and connection to our community ever since. The vision of the SUN Center is to contribute towards active volunteerism, civic responsibility, and justice-based leadership through community and campus engagement.
SUN Center Involvement Leaders (SCILs) are committed to community and campus service, and serve to increase volunteerism at Utah State University Eastern by providing diverse service opportunities that empower students through community outreach and leadership. The main purpose of this role is to engage students with the community and serve as the liaison between local nonprofits and our campus.
The SUN Center organizes and facilitates about 25-30 events per academic year, including volunteer opportunities both on and off campus, as well as Alternative Break trip(s). These events connect USU Eastern students with numerous nonprofit agencies in the Price community as well as surrounding areas, and provide opportunities for service-learning through projects that benefit both the campus and the community.
In addition to organizing events, the SUN Center records student service hours through the GivePulse platform, and students can request their hours at any point during the semester.
