Eric discussed and explained to the team what the purpose of E & G funding is. This is State Appropriated funding, made up of tuition dollars and funding appropriated from the State of Utah. ENG will pay half of USUSA scholarships, Student Fee Allocations will cover the other half. He explained to them that Cameron West and Allie Chamberlain’s salaries were funded in full by these funds up to this point. Eric discussed that with budget cuts coming from the state, adjustments need to be made with these salaries. The option given were:

  • Possibly Drop their Salary by some by making them go to ¾ time, or make up that deficit with student fees.
  • Eric discussed covering this deficit with the housing budget, however that would not be ideal because it would put more responsibility on Cameron and Allie which in turn would take away their focus from USUSA.
  • Eric presented the current student fee allocations to see if there are changes that can be made to help cover these salaries from the student fees.
  • The increase in fees allocated to the BDAC in the past couple years could be an option. They may have to decrease this allocation in the future. Propose to take $20,000 out of activities budget to keep things maintained with Allie and Cameron.

Propose to take $20,000 out of activities budget to keep scholarships maintained.
