Each year, during the Eastern Utah Economic Summit, awards are given to those who have a positive impact on our community. Businesses and individuals may be nominated. See below for information and criteria for each award.
Business of the Year
The Business of the Year Award will recognize and celebrate an organization in eastern Utah that demonstrates outstanding accomplishments resulting in a positive impact on its workforce, industry, and community. Additionally, a significant part of the recognition for this award is based on the business’ support of eastern Utah economic development through employment growth, business expansion, and revenue generation. The Business of the Year Award will be presented each year to one organization at the Eastern Utah Economic Summit.
To be considered, or to nominate someone else, complete the nomination form highlighting the measurable and sustainable impact that has been made on economic development in eastern Utah.
Nomination Process
The nomination window for the Business of the Year Award will close on September 1.
An online nomination form must be submitted during the open call period to be considered. The Business of the Year Award Committee will review nominations and make recommendations to the Eastern Utah Economic Summit Planning Committee. The final honoree will be selected by the Eastern Utah Economic Summit Planning Committee.
Award Criteria and Eligibility
Criteria
Nominees and their contributions to community or region should include the following criteria:
- Stability – Substantiated history as an established business including, but not limited to: number of years in business, sustained expansion, growth in square footage, and or growth in net worth.
- Growth in number of employees and impact on the job market.
- Corporate Citizenship – Demonstrated ethical leadership and corporate stewardship and impact in the community through use of personnel or financial contributions. Include information on specific contributions of money, time, or resources to charitable causes and membership in councils, boards and clubs providing support and services to the community.
- Customer Service – Demonstrated outstanding customer service.
- Innovation and creativity – Demonstrated innovativeness of product or service offered to illustrate creativity and imagination of management.
- Other – industry recognition, aesthetics of the business, new product growth, and/or innovative marketing.
Eligibility
To be considered for the award, nominees must meet the following requirements:
- Reside or operate in eastern Utah at the time of nomination.
- Not a current member of the Business of the Year Award Committee.
- Not a current member of the Eastern Utah Economic Summit Planning Committee.
- Not received the Business of the Year Award in the past three years.

Community Impact
The Community Impact Award will recognize and celebrate an individual or organization in eastern Utah who has made exceptional contributions to their community or region through service to the community. The Community Impact Award will be presented each year to one individual or organization at the Eastern Utah Economic Summit.
To be considered, or to nominate someone else, complete the nomination form highlighting the measurable and sustainable impact that has been made to the community or region through an initiative or partnership they created or substantially supported.

The nomination window for the Community Impact Award will close on September 1.
An online nomination form must be submitted during the open call period to be considered. The Community Impact Award Committee will review nominations and make recommendations to the Eastern Utah Economic Summit Planning Committee. The final honoree will be selected by the Eastern Utah Economic Summit Planning Committee.

- Measurable and demonstrated impact on the community.
- Sustainability of initiative(s) over time.
- Demonstrate the individual or organization’s leadership role and/or use of advocacy.
- Demonstrate the critical role of the nominee.

To be considered for the award, nominees must meet the following requirements:
- Reside or operate in eastern Utah at the time of nomination.
- Not a current member of the Business of the Year Award Committee.
- Not a current member of the Eastern Utah Economic Summit Planning Committee.
- Not received the Community Impact Award in the past three years.
Entrepreneurial Spirit
The Entrepreneurial Spirit Award is designed to celebrate the value of entrepreneurship and innovation across eastern Utah. This award is presented to an individual or organization who demonstrates a commitment to business and economic development. This individual or organization embodies the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative thinking.
The Entrepreneurial Spirit Award will be presented each year to one individual or organization at the Eastern Utah Economic Summit
To be considered, or to nominate someone else, complete the nomination form highlighting the contribution and leadership of this individual or organization as a catalyst for job creation, smart growth/development, or economic improvement in their community.

The Community Impact Award Committee will review nominations and make recommendations to the Eastern Utah Economic Summit Planning Committee. The final honoree will be selected by the Eastern Utah Economic Summit Planning Committee.
Award Criteria and Eligibility
Criteria
Nominees and their contributions to community or region should include the following criteria:
- Played a primary role in creating, sustaining and/or developing a new business enterprise or have turned around or significantly grown an existing business enterprise.
- Must be continuing to grow or maintain success within the specific time period.
- Must be financially successful and have a strong reputation for sound business ethics and management practices.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial impact on their profession and/or the community in which they are active.
- Respected leader in the industry and/or community, as demonstrated by involvement in industry, community, and service organizations and/or activities.
Eligibility
To be considered for the award, nominees must meet the following requirements:
- Reside or operate in eastern Utah at the time of nomination.
- Not a current member of the Entrepreneurial Award Committee.
- Not a current member of the Eastern Utah Economic Summit Planning Committee.
- Not received the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award in the past three years.
