The Certification & Skills Center can help you schedule and complete certification exams from either the campus testing center or a remote location.

Scheduling an Exam

  • Select Certification Exam from the dropdown menu. Eastern students need to choose the Price Campus.
  • Choose a test proctor (check each proctor's schedule if a specific time is needed.)
  • Select the preferred date and time.
  • Log in with your A#.

  • Certification program (Microsoft, IC3, Adobe, etc.)
  • Exact test name (e.g. Microsoft Word 365)
  • Acknowledge the transcript agreement

  • Important exam information will be sent to your USU email. Check your inbox often.
  • Failure to complete the required steps may result in rescheduling your exam.
  • All exams (including remote) are proctored during regular business hours.
    Extended hours may be available during midterm and final exams. Early morning, late evening, and weekend requests will not be accommodated.
  • Rescheduling or cancellation must be done at least 8 hours in advance. Late changes will depend on availability.
  • Please view the Certification & Skills Center Policies before arriving for your exam.
  • Certification exams will appear on your USU transcripts as workforce development courses but do not affect GPA or degree progress. If you wish to opt out, notify the proctor before the exam.
  • All exams, whether at a remote location or at the testing center, will be monitored.

Before the Exam

  • Create a Certiport account.
    Be sure to remember your login credentials - proctoring staff will not be able to retrieve them for you.
  • You will need to use Google Chrome and disable any firewalls or VPNs.
  • Zoom will be used to monitor you during the exam.
    Check your camera access for Zoom.
    Test candidates must stay on Zoom with your camera and microphone on for the entire duration of the exam.
  • A strong internet connection is required.
  • Have a photo ID ready.

Exam Day

  • Test your Certiport login 30 minutes before your appointment.
  • Arrive 15-20 minutes early for check-in.
    • Late arrivals - up to 20 minutes late results in reduced test time; beyond 20 minutes requires rescheduling.
  • Photo ID is required for check-in.

Remote Exam Guidelines

  • Test in a quiet, private, well-lit room.
  • Use a computer/laptop (no phones or tablets) with a strong internet connection.
  • Check technical requirements 10-15 minutes prior to the exam.
  • Connect with the proctor via Zoom 5 minutes before the exam.
  • Exams are monitored via Zoom and Certiport's remote testing system.

Personal Items & Conduct

  • No personal belongings (phones, bags, notes) allowed in the test area. Personal belongings for in-person exams must be left with the test proctor.
  • Academic integrity is expected - cheating, plagiarism, and unauthorized materials are prohibited.
  • Respectful behavior is required - disruptions result in disqualification.
  • Proctors actively monitor all exams.

Important Testing Reminders

  • Provide the exact exam name when scheduling. The testing center does not have access to your class schedule or required exams. Contact your instructor if you are unsure.
  • Remember your Certiport login - testing staff cannot retrieve it for you.
  • Disable firewalls and VPNs before the exam.
  • Log in within 20-minutes to avoid timeouts.
  • Check emails from the testing center for critical instructions.
  • Cancel unneeded appointments to free up slots for others.
  • Ask questions if you need clarification about testing guidelines - contact the testing center.
  • Test proctors have limited troubleshooting abilities due to time constraints and differences in individual computers.
